Superintendent Finalists

From a strong pool of qualified candidates, the Board of Education is proud to announce the three finalists for the School District of Cudahy's Superintendent position. The district will also be hosting staff and community listening sessions the evening on April 18, 2024. See the schedule below.

Dr. Elizabeth Freeman

Dr. Elizabeth Freeman has been serving as Community Unit School District 300’s Chief Academic Officer in Algonquin, IL and has worked in District 300 since 2018 previously holding the Director of Professional Development and Programs Position also in District 300.  Dr. Freeman has also held the position of Assistant Superintendent of Innovative Learning, Teaching and Technology in Fremont School District 79 and Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Services in Rochelle Township High School 212. Dr. Freeman earned a Doctorate of Education: Curriculum, Instruction and Educational Leadership from Loyola University, a Master of Education: Curriculum, Instruction and Educational Psychology from National Louis University and a Bachelor of Arts: French from Northern Illinois University.

A published author, Dr. Freeman has written about mindfulness, innovation, and professional learning communities, serves as a CODiE judge for innovative educational technology software, is a member of the state and national superintendents association, the state principal association Learning Forward, and ASCD.

Liz lives in Woodstock with her family. In her free time she enjoys hiking with her two boxers and gardening. She loves traveling to see new sights, to have new experiences, and for the memories it creates.

Garven Michelle

Dr. Michelle Garven has been serving as Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated School District’s Superintendent since 2015.  Dr. Garven has also held positions of Director of Learning Services in the Grafton School District, and High School Principal/K-12 Director of Curriculum & Instruction in St Francis Public Schools. Dr. Garven earned a Ph.D. in Leadership, Service & Learning from Cardinal Stritch University, a Master of Arts in Curriculum & Instruction from Alverno College and a Bachelor of Arts in education from Mount Mary College.

Dr. Garven sits on MSOE's Principal Center Board of Directors.  

Michelle lives in Bayview with her spouse, has two grown children, loves music, traveling, gardening, hiking and playing guitar.

Maggy Olson

Maggy Olson is currently serving as Greendale Schools’ Director of Equity and Instruction since 2020.  Ms. Olson was the Founding Principal, Administrator Coach at Milwaukee College Prep, has also held positions of Principal at 81st Street School, New Leader Resident Principal at South Division High School and a school administrator, special education coach and teacher in Milwaukee, Madison and Minneapolis Public Schools.  Ms. Olson is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership & Policy Analysis from UW-Madison, earned a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from UW-Madison.

Ms. Olson is a member of the New Leaders for New Schools 8 Cohort.

Maggy is a proud mother, wife, sister, yogi, runner, advocate and joy finder.
