Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was an activist and leader of the Civil Rights Movement. The 2024-2025 Cudahy MLK Art & Essay Contest invites students to reflect on the life, lessons, and powerful words of this inspiring leader. Cudahy students are encouraged to incorporate the theme into their submission or create a piece that represents the life and legacy of Dr. King overall. Eligibility: The Dr. MLK Jr. Essay & Art Contest is open to all students in the School District of Cudahy Contest Guidelines: Winners will be selected at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Essays: Individual essays will be accepted. Essays can be typed or handwritten neatly. Art: All art forms are welcome, including drawing, photography, painting, poetry, sculpture, spoken word, videography, and more. Individual and group art submissions will be accepted. Submission: All contest submissions should be delivered to your school or the district office by Tuesday, January 13th by 4:00 PM. Please make sure that the student’s name, grade, and school is located on or attached to the submitted piece. Digital submissions ( ex: videos, digital art, typed essays, etc.) can be submitted by clicking this link, https://forms.gle/sSUMpJ4795cRyjd39 Winners & Recognition: Submissions will be evaluated based on theme, quality, creativity, and originality. Contest winners will be notified by Friday, January 18th. Winners will be invited to a recognition event at the Cudahy Family Library on Saturday, January 25th where they will receive a certificate of achievement and the opportunity to view the other winning submissions.
